Davina Mccall Beach 2010

March 7, 2010: Taillebourg

Taillebourg starting side and head wind ...
first small loop, about 4 km, and always headwind, cold .... brrr!
A few meters from the finish the half marathon last upwind
I HAVE 30 YEARS ..... races today! Taillebourg Taillebourg March 9, 1980-March 7, 2010 .... 45000 km away and 263 bibs that crossed a finish line, what memories attached to these little rectangles! (Click on photo to view full screen)
30 YEARS So ... Today, no need to blow out the candles, the wind northeast iced it loaded ...
For 30 years I ask this basic question, quasi-existential is it my feet running on the road, or is this the road that passes under my feet? Looking the current response as often as possible, and sometimes I pin a bib with other addicted to endorphins to work together, to a finish line where I see the mystery remains whole. Unfathomable. This verification is not attempted in vain because the race has the privilege to compose fabulous and ephemeral moments away on their own to remain only in the eyes and minds that have welcomed them. And 30 years of images and sensations they are stored in hot sparing carefully place for those to come. ... Mountains, forests, shorelines, cities, sun, rain, wind, hills, descents ... endless inventory at a rate of breaths and heartbeats ... happiness accelerated run on the path or the path to see that happening? Something "Stairway to Heaven " ....

So much for the anniversary, always this demanding circuit, unchanged for 30 years, plus today, wind, cold ... Under these conditions the clock was not a very big importance. 1 h 41'28 arrival and the 44th place of 162 starters. Always the same supplies, tap water, white sugar cubes and orange slices, as in 1980. Even the kindness of volunteers supplies, at crossroads, at the finish ... A Taillebourg, time stops every year the first Sunday in March.
