Emerson Disposal Removal

August 30, 2009 THE RIDGE VOSGIEN

last moments of concentration before the start ...
Rally under the banner before departure on the Prairie
2nd km, after a very dry mounted on a ski slope, the trail becomes very fast
the same place
Hahnenbrunnen Pass, 4.5 km to the first stop
Schweisel Descent, 7th Km. The climb from the other side was difficult

Col du Herrenberg. Second refueling. About 9 km

ascent Rothenbackopf
Near the farm house of Fistmiss, 3rd refueling
Crest Kastelberg. Basically the Hohneck culmination of the race (1364 m)
Bottom of descent Kastelberg, before attacking the rise of Hohneck
3 hours of stroke, 6th refueling Green Lake (27e km). It restarts slower ....
In the arrival gates, very tired but very happy!
Beautiful weather this morning, chilled (8 °) but bright sunshine and no wind, ideal for running. At 10 hours, at the ski resort of Markstein (1184 m), is about 1,100 flights, a short walk in a meadow downhill in a fairly high grass where stuck in the crowd of runners, one sees that the last time the holes ... ale ankles ... Then a small lane where it jostles a bit, and after 1 km, everyone is calm about 500 m climb 25% on a ski slope. At the top is catching up with the GR5, which serves as a guide to running a large part of the course. Small climb, running towards the Breitfirst, 1st summit (1280 m) not difficult. Then
is very fast, beautiful carpet of grass slightly downhill, it can accelerate. I arrive at the first refueling of Hahnenbrunnen Pass (1186 m) in 28 min (km 4.5). Rising Schweisel is harder (1271 m) and also following the descent, the terrain is much less stock, with ruts and rocks.
New cervix, Herrenberg (1185 m) for the second refueling. All is well, it's good, the view is magnificent two sides of the ridge, Alsace right, left the Vosges ... Too bad, we must be careful where you walk, although not easy to enjoy the scenery.
It connects three vertices, the Batteriekopf the Rothenbackopf and Rainkopf (1311 m, 1316 m and 1305 m), the latter being the steepest in both the rise in the downhill, then Kastelberg, not too steep, but long. The descent is tricky, rolling rocks and ruts. Then climb the Hohneck culmination of the race to 1364 m, very stiff, but with the encouragement of a wacky group of 20 to 30 supporters who make noise like 200! very nice this time of the race, the 16th km, and the fourth replenishment at the top. Then it's a long descent with relatively easy passage through the woods to reach the Col de la Schlucht, the lowest point of the Vosges ridges (1135 m).
is also fueling the 5th and 21st km. I arrived at 2 am 16 and am taking my time to refuel well as in the last 12 km, a single supply is provided on the description of the race. It's also a new race starts because the legs are beginning to be heavy ... We leave to the Tanet (1292 m) by a pleasant path through the woods, who goes by a rather low slope. Despite the fatigue, I make this current rise (by the way, a rider next to me short in sandals!! I asked him if he made a test or has forgotten his pumps: this is the 2nd good explanation. This is the first time I see a guy do a 33km mountain trail run in sandals ... incredible! ). After 1 km, the beautiful trail leaves the timber and makes up almost for 10 km, a road washed out, with big rounded rocks that emerge everywhere. It becomes complicated to run, you need to concentrate on each stride to avoid a sprain, lift your feet to move the rocks, and the shoes are heavy at this point in the race. The average takes a hit. The descent of the Col du Tanet to Green Lake is becoming quite technical. 6th refueling the pass, 27th km in 3 hours battery.
There are 2 mounted to at the Lawn Ridge (1303 m) and the Lawn Faing (1302 m). Pleasant surprise at the Lawn Ridge, a 7th refueling was added by the organization. The landscape is still beautiful, a quick glance from time to time, but I'm a bit tired of this hyper-field wearing. The cramps are not far away ... And suddenly, after the Turf Faing the last 3 km are downhill, but I'm too stiff to really enjoy it. I run, but avoid the stones and the roots becomes difficult! last steep slope on a ski slope grassy meadow to a small cross, a slight rise to cross the road, and a little for fun sprinting to the finish: 3 hours and 563eme 49'02.
Chrono corresponds roughly to that of a marathon. (1 is 2 h 20)
