The departure in the streets of Rhodes, about 150
Ascent to the withholding of Vinca, then directly attack the slope
Before last run, it starts to pinch a little ...
Also in the penultimate downhill, crossing in the ancient granite quarries
At the foot of the last climb ... phew!
top of the last climb .... hot! (Photo: AC Illois)
View of Rhodes, and the final descent after passing the castle
Passage winner (Laurent Brossard) in ruins of the castle
45 minutes later, I arrive ... slower!
Come on, it's almost over ...
Trail very nice .... provided, of course, love the steep, sun, downhill gullies and especially as its name suggests (salt rocks) rocks, boulders of all sizes and shapes!
16 km climb and slide down in the scrub, rosemary, prickly pears, and every 850 m in altitude.
Departure at 9 am 30 in town de Rodes, a pretty little village nestled in the valley of the Tet opposite Canigou. The trail first climbs slowly to the reservoir of Vinca, then suddenly we take the slope face. No question of running! southern slopes, the sun heats well. I left with 60 cl drink because there is only one refueling. I arrived in 58 minutes. Around 1 hour 40 race, his legs start to get less light. We return pass near Rodès for the climb to the castle, then a fairly technical descent to arrive in 2 h 08'42.
Excellent organization of the Amicale Cycliste Illois, whether to home, to indicate the bifurcations on course, on arrival (drinks, snacks), immediate, friendly atmosphere ... good morning, sports and fun.
then a short visit in the next valley, opposite the castle Cathar Queribus, Maury where Chris makes us taste the local wine, a perfectly sublime 20 years of age (Field of the Last Bastion, M. Lafage, www.dernierbastion.com)
